Trent Welstead

Trent Welstead currently resides in Blacksburg, VA, where he recently completed a dual degree in Cinema and Creative Writing at Virginia Tech. He's an avid cinema enthusiast to nearly every extent imaginable, and cherishes his many opportunities to collaborate with others.

Trent’s short films have screened at various festivals in seventeen different states across the nation, in addition to a couple areas abroad. His student film, Clock-Boy (2017), produced at Virginia Tech for the CampusMovieFest 2017-2018 National Tour, has won several awards, and recently received distribution via Amazon Prime. The Rehearsal (2018) enjoyed similar success. Following graduation, Trent produced and directed his first feature film, A Story Revealed (2020), with current plans to release a second feature, next year.

As for personal interests, Trent loves the music of The Beach Boys, Bruce Springsteen, and Def Leppard, among many other classic rock artists. When he’s not immersed in his own projects, you can more than likely assume Trent’s watching anything and everything from The Criterion Collection with whomever he’s delighted to share the experience, or enjoying his rewarding work at the Moss Arts Center, on Virginia Tech’s main campus.

Now awaiting word from graduate school applications, Trent plans to pursue an M.F.A. in Film Production, with an anticipated enrollment slated for August, 2020. Before making the inevitable transition, he’s working hard to complete several lasting short projects, while reminding himself to breathe every once in a while.
