Kari Kilgore
Kari Kilgore lives and works in her native mountains of Virginia. From that solid home base, she and her husband Jason Adams find adventures all over this world and others to bring to life in fiction. Exploring local legends and mythologies in particular delights and inspires them both.
Kari writes science fiction, fantasy, and horror, and she’s happiest when she surprises herself. She lives at the end of a long dirt road in the middle of the woods with Jason, various house critters, and wildlife they’re better off not knowing more about.
Kari’s novels, novellas, and short stories are available at www.spiralpublishing.net, which also publishes books by Frank Kilgore and Jason Adams. Kari’s first published novel, Until Death, was on the Bram Stoker Award’s Preliminary Ballot for Superior Achievement in a First Novel in 2016, and it was a finalist for the International Vampire Film and Arts Festival’s Golden Stake Award in 2018. Her short story In the Company of Women was named Silver Honorable Mention in the 2018 Fourth Quarter Writers of the Future contest. Recent professional sales include two short stories to Fiction River anthology magazine.
Kari’s novella Songs in the Mountain was inspired by Frank Kilgore’s book Far Southwest Virginia: A Postcard and Photographic Journey, also from Spiral Publishing. Her Storms of Future Past Series, due out over the last few months of 2018, is also partly set in Southwest Virginia.
