Bill Mulligan

Indie Film Guest of Honor
Bill Mulligan has turned a decades long love of genre film and comic books into an active role in the North Carolina indie film community. A high school science teacher by day, his weekends tend to be filled with film projects. A chance comment from a student 13 years ago led him to Christine Parker, a local filmmaker, resulting in a creative partnership that has led to 5 feature films and almost 2 dozen short films.

It was his love for special effects that first got him involved and his work can be seen in the zombie themed films Second Death, The Forever Dead, Fistful of Brains, A Few Brains More; Summer of Blood (co-written with Christine Parker) and the upcoming Blood of the Mummy, as well as Christopher Moores award winning monster short Knob Goblins, for which he created the monster Knobby. He has conducted classes for young people on creating special makeup effects with easily available material.

As an actor he has appeared in 22 film projects and has written or co-written over 9 films, including award winners like Belladonna, for filmmaker Brett Mullen, Cache Me if You Can, which he directed, and 400 Ways To Kill A Vampire, directed by Christine Parker. His screenplay for the feature length Blood of the Dragon recently won won best original screenplay at the Carolina Screenwriting Showcase. He has recently finished his first novel, based on the 400 Ways To Kill A Vampire short and is trying to figure out what to do with it.

He is a regular on the Decades of Horror the 1970s podcast and is a regular panelist at Mysticon, ConCarolinas and Dragoncon where he will gladly discuss obscure horror movies, weird comics, film-making, the weather, whatever, the man loves to talk.
